How to analyze TikTok comments with ChatGPT or Claude
TikTok comments show how viewers react to a product, an ad or a creator, and they often include questions about price, fit or where to buy. ChatGPT and Claude are good at reading hundreds of comments and grouping them, but they first need the comments as data. This guide covers the ways to get TikTok comments into your AI, from manual copying to a connected data source, and how to turn them into themes, sentiment and purchase-intent signals.
Why ChatGPT and Claude can't do this on their own
An AI assistant answers from its training data and, when enabled, from web search. Web search returns a few pages of text, not the comment list of a video, and TikTok shows a login prompt or challenge page to most automated visitors, including the browsing tools built into AI assistants. Without a data connection, the AI has no reliable way to read the comments, count them or link back to them.
Do-it-yourself options

| Option | How it works | Works well for | What you take on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Copy and paste | Open each video, scroll the comments and paste them into a chat or a spreadsheet | A few videos, a one-off check | Slow; long threads and replies are easy to miss; no likes, dates or links unless you copy them too |
| Browser export extensions | An extension in your browser exports the comments of the video you have open to a file | Dozens of videos, occasional use | One video at a time; results depend on the extension and break when TikTok changes its pages |
| Your own script or scraper | A script or headless browser collects comments for a list of videos or a hashtag | Teams with a developer | Building and hosting it, handling blocks and page changes, and keeping it running |
| Official TikTok APIs | TikTok's Research API is open to approved researchers through an application; its other developer APIs mainly cover your own account's content or ads | Academic research, your own account | Approval process and eligibility rules; not a general route for reading comments on any public video |
| General scraping platforms | Paid services run ready-made TikTok collectors and export files | Larger one-off pulls | A separate account and bill, files to move into your AI, and one more tool for each new platform |
Once you have a file, you can upload it to ChatGPT or Claude and ask for the analysis. If you already have a workflow that produces clean files, keep it.
The connect-a-data-source route
Instead of collecting files, you connect your AI to ProLevelMax once and ask in plain words. The AI searches TikTok, pulls the comments and analyses them in the same conversation, with links back to each video.
- Create an account at prolevelmax. com. New users receive $1 in sign-up credit after verifying their email (one per person). No card required.
- Connect your AI.
Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other AI that can run commands: create an API key in the Dashboard under API keys, then send your AI this line together with the key:set up https://prolevelmax.com/SKILL.md
The AI reads the file and completes the setup.
ChatGPT (web): open Plugins, click + → Add custom MCP server, enterhttps://prolevelmax.com/mcp, choose OAuth and create it, then sign in to ProLevelMax and click Allow. In a chat, type @ and pick ProLevelMax. No API key is needed.
Claude.ai or Claude Desktop: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, then pastehttps://prolevelmax.com/mcpand sign in.
Full steps are in How to give your AI real-time social media data. - Ask in plain words. The AI picks a data source, tells you the price and runs it after you agree. Runs that can cost more than $0.10 always wait for your confirmation.
- Keep or export the results. Each run can be downloaded as CSV, Excel or JSON, and results are kept for 30 days.
Developers can use the same sources from scripts or an n8n HTTP Request node through the REST API. See the docs.
Prompts to copy
Paste one of these into your AI and replace the links, keywords and limits.
themes and sentiment for a set of videos
Get the comments on these TikTok videos, up to 5 pages per video: [video links]
Group the comments into 6 to 8 themes. For each theme give the number of comments, the share that is positive, negative or neutral, and two example comments with links.
a hashtag or keyword
Search TikTok for "#desksetup" and take the 20 most-viewed videos from the last 30 days.
Pull the first 3 pages of comments on each and tell me which product problems and feature requests come up most often, with counts.
purchase intent
From the comments on these videos: [video links]
List every comment that asks about price, a discount, a link, where to buy or shipping. Group them by question type, count each group and show the 10 with the most likes.
our videos against a competitor's
Here are 5 of our videos and 5 of a competitor's: [links]
Collect the comments on all 10 and compare what viewers praise and criticise on each side. Translate any non-English comments and keep the original text in brackets.
Set a limit in each prompt, such as "up to 5 pages per video". Each page of comments is one call, so a limit keeps the cost where you expect it.
What it costs in practice
TikTok comment sources are billed per call: $0.003 per call, and one call returns one page of comments. The number of comments on a page depends on the source and on TikTok.
Example: one campaign review. Search a hashtag, read 5 pages of comments on each of the 20 most relevant videos, and expand the replies under the 10 most-replied comments.

| Item | Calls | Price | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hashtag or keyword search | 3 calls (3 pages of results) | $0.003 per call | $0.009 |
| Video comments | 20 videos × 5 pages = 100 calls | $0.003 per call | $0.300 |
| Comment replies | 10 calls | $0.003 per call | $0.030 |
| Total | 113 calls | $0.339, about $0.34 |
Arithmetic: 113 calls × $0.003 = $0.339. Repeating the review once a week for 4 weeks: $0.339 × 4 = $1.356, about $1.36 a month.
For larger pulls, some TikTok sources are billed per result instead: from $0.0015 per result plus $0.001 per run, with a minimum of $0.0057 per run. At that lowest rate, 1,000 results cost 1,000 × $0.0015 + $0.001 = $1.501. Other per-result sources cost more; live rates are on the pricing page.
Your AI shows the price before every run, and the charge never exceeds the quote. You can also set a daily or monthly spending limit for each API key or connected app in the Dashboard. These figures cover data only; your ChatGPT or Claude plan is separate.
To repeat a review automatically, ask your AI to create a daily or weekly schedule. Schedules run at a set Beijing time, each run is capped at its run limit, and results land in your run history.
Limits
- Public data only. Private accounts, messages and anything behind someone's login are not collected.
- Platform rules. Videos with comments turned off return no comments, and comments TikTok has hidden or filtered do not appear. Use the data in line with TikTok's terms and the laws that apply to you.
- Privacy. Comments come with public usernames. Report on themes and quotes rather than profiling individual users, and follow the privacy rules that apply to you, such as GDPR.
- Sampling bias. Commenters are not a random sample of viewers or customers. Top comments are ranked by TikTok, and a few viral videos can dominate the totals. Treat sentiment labels from the AI as a first pass and check the quotes behind each theme.
- Counts such as likes and views are the public numbers at the moment of the request.

FAQ
Can ChatGPT read TikTok comments from a link?
Not reliably. TikTok blocks most automated browsing, and web search does not return a video's comment list. Upload an exported file, or connect a data source so the AI can fetch the comments itself.
How many comments can the AI analyse at once?
Hundreds to a few thousand comments are a normal size for one analysis. For larger sets, ask the AI to analyse in batches or download the results as CSV and work from the file.
Do I need a TikTok account or a TikTok API key?
No. You only need a ProLevelMax account. Only public comments are collected.
How accurate is AI sentiment on TikTok comments?
Good enough for a first pass, with known weak spots: sarcasm, slang, emoji-only comments and in-jokes. Ask the AI to show example quotes for each group and to mark comments it could not classify.
